About Me
For those who don't know me, my name is Sue Reis. I was born and raised in the South Hills of Pittsburgh, PA., grandaughter and student of master baker Maria Lang. I started making specialty cakes back in 1975, when my Grandmother turned 75. My first cake was her 75th birthday cake, which was three tiered and somewhat uneven. I was 16 years old at that time. Everyone raved about the taste, and even more the way that it looked. From that point on, I had so many people asking me to make their wedding cakes, birthday cakes, and special occasion cakes. My business grew fast!
I took a break for quite a few years while my three boys were young, only doing family and friends wedding cakes and birthday cakes. When my youngest son graduated from high school and I made his graduation cake, and as a result of that, I had so many people asking me to make them cakes, that I decided to open for business once again. This is a new age of cake decorating though. I have been inspired by Buddy from the TV show "The Cake Boss", Duff from "The Ace of Cakes" and several others who introduced me to the art of fondant, gumpaste and sugar art. This form of cake making was made for people like me, who love to bake and be creative.
Take a look at my online albums. There you will find my most recent cakes. I think you'll be impressed. There aren't many bakers doing this level of design in our area. I would love to make your next occasion extra special!
